<p>that is a great idea. At this point it should be clear to anyone that reference tools &#38; data are a necessity for this research to progress.</p>
<p>My GTVS tool was an attempt to fill one gap and TIE comes at hand too. However, additional work is definitely needed.</p>
<p>This week the folks at ipoque have open sourced part of their DPI engine. I think this establishes a base comparison point from now on. Check the tool out at <a href="http://opendpi.org/" target="_blank">http://opendpi.org/</a></p>

<p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">UPC is also very interested in joining such an interesting SIG. We are working on several topics related to this area and, in particular,  we are currently studying the impact of sampling on traffic classification and the application identification problem using NetFlow data. Therefore, we have some NetFlow labeled traces that could be used in the framework of this new SIG.</p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">Obviously, we will assist to the Barcelona meeting where all these topics could be discussed.</p>
