The Forschungszentrum Telekommunikation Wien (FTW) is a dynamic company with an international atmosphere that carries out application-oriented research in telecommunications. Our mission is to fill

the gap between science and industry, pursuing a challenging research program in collaboration with both academic and industrial partners. In this context, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) is one of the core research fields pursued at FTW, where engineers, psychologists, sociologists and economists collaborate in interdisciplinary teams with the goal of increase the user friendliness of future telecommunication services and applications.

Currently we are hiring for the following position:
Researcher in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI)

We are seeking an ambitious researcher with experience in user testing and the development of interactive systems who is willing to contribute to strategic and application-oriented research activities in the area of Quality of Experience for Future Communication Services and Networks.

Tasks:

• Conceive and conduct user studies on perceived quality of communication systems
• Develop tools and test environments for user-centric quality assessment
• Perform statistical analysis of user study and network traffic data
• Scientific collaboration within national and European research projects
• Reporting of results at project meetings and scientific conferences 
• Contribute to proposal writing and industry partner relationship activities

Required Skills:

• Bachelor or Master degree in a relevant technical field (e.g. Computer Science, Communications Engineering, Business Informatics)
• Experience in the technical development of desktop and Web applications
• Practical experience in design, performance and evaluation of user trials of advantage
• Independent and goal oriented working style
• Ability to combine theoretical reasoning with practical applications and experimentations
• Ability to integrate in a multinational research team
• Fluency in German and English
