University of Coimbra
Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra (FCTUC) is a High Education institution with approximately 470 Professors/Researchers, who draws on an involvement in cutting-edge research to assure the best education at all levels. Fourteen departments offer programs leading to the Bachelor, Master and Doctoral degree programs. The R&D Unit for the informatics area is CISUC (Centre for Informatics and Systems of the University of Coimbra), funded in 1995 and hosting around 57 PhD researchers.
The representative in the COST-TMA action is the Laboratory of Communications and Telematics (LCT) of CISUC originated in the Data Communications and Computer Networks group of the Department of Electrical Engineering of the University of Coimbra, which initiated its activity in 1984. LCT has been involved in many research projects and has participated in technical committees and expert groups at national and international level in the area of computer networking and computer communications. At present, LCT has over 30 researchers, including students at PhD and MSc levels. Current research activity address topics that include future networks architectures and protocols, quality of service, quality of experience, mobility, routing,security, and network management, service infrastructures, service description, service composition and infrastructure virtualization.
